Be Easily Recognized When You Use Your ID Card at Work

Work ID cards have many different functions. Some of these are purely related to identification, and others pertain to staffing within the workplace and the locations of employees. A work ID card can provide credentials allowing an employee to validly be present at a particular location. Using a work ID in its various capacities can improve the control an employer has over the place of business. An I.D. cab also provide a tool to track staff and match attendance with productivity.

Work ID cards can let the boss or another employee immediately identify an employee and greet that individual by name. Using a picture ID as a name badge also allows for rapid screening of a group of individuals to determine whether there are unauthorized persons present along with authorized employees.

Work ID cards, when they double as name/information tags, can enable employees to be recognized and identified. Work ID cards can assist management in verifying attendance and in eliminating unauthorized personnel from areas where they are not welcome.

Work ID cards can help an employer track the movements and work habits of employees when the employee is at the job site. A job site can be equipped to track an employee based on the location of h er I D card using technology similar to GPS. This technology can also monitor attendance and productivity.

A Work ID card can be used as a form of social identification for the employee when she is away from the actual job site but is representing the employer in a social situation. In this type of situation, a lavaliere-type of attachment can convert the work ID into a name tag that identifies the employee and shows an official identification provided by the employer.

Work ID cards can be programmed to permit an employee to gain access to exterior doors and restricted areas. The ID/key card can then keep up with building attendance at all times, reducing the number of staff who have to manually keep up with attendance from a central reception area. This use of the work ID as a quasi-key card simplifies control of access to the work place. If the scanning equipment is sophisticated enough, the individuals can be accounted for as they enter and leave the place of business.

Why Loyalty Cards are a Must

For anyone with a business that has the potential for repeat customers, loyalty cards are an essential part of conducting good business. There are three distinct advantages to loyalty cards and each will keep you working with customers that come again and again. These benefits are unique to loyalty cards and can help you build your business and keep customers coming back each and every time.

The first benefit is that a loyalty card encourages customers to use your service more than once. In many businesses, it is enough for a customer to use a company once then move on to a cheaper competitor. That being said, if you offer a loyalty card your company has the potential to meet or even beat the lower competitor pricing which makes it easier for customers to stick with the familiar. Loyalty cards can help you keep your prices low without having to lower them so much that you lose money or hurt your own business in the process.

The second benefit is that a loyalty card allows you to reward customers for remaining loyal. These cards offer the potential for businesses to give breaks on pricing, coupons, or even free merchandise which makes customers feel appreciated. When a customer is happy and feels as if their business means something to your company, they are more likely to become a return customer and even to bring new clients with them.

The last benefit is that loyalty cards promote loyalty and really help you to manage your product and your pricing. If it seems impossible to draw in new customers, a loyalty card can help you to curb your prices for existing members while drawing in new clients every day. Word of mouth is powerful and with the right loyalty program, you can get all your customers talking which is likely to bring in tons of new clients every day. This also means that your customers will be more likely to bring in new clients like friends and family because you have built trust with them.

These are just a few of the great benefits of loyalty cards and with some further research, anyone can learn how to set up their own loyalty program. Loyalty cards can only help you to grow your business and further your own goals. With the right loyalty card and the right loyalty program, any business can go from a small business that is lacking in customers to a large business that has to turn people away.

Staff ID badges

Almost every company and organization in the world is now convinced of various benefits of using corporate ID badges for their staff and executives. We are now very familiar with the sight of a person working in any company with a badge attached to their pocket or hanging around their neck. It’s not only prevalent in multinational and big companies but also the small scale businesses and schools.

What is a staff ID badge?
Staff ID badge is a small piece of paper, plastic or PVC on which complete detail of a staff member, student or an executive is mentioned. The information on the card depends on the purpose of that card. It also depends on the extent of security in an organization.

Uses of staff ID badges
There are several uses of an ID badge in an organization. These badges help you in distinguishing your staff members from the outsiders. These ID badges ensure that only the identified employees can enter the premises of the building of an organization. These badges make it much easier for the security officials at the entrance to identify and differentiate the employees from the outsiders. Some special ID badges can also be provided to the visitors and guests in order to allow them to move freely without any trouble.
The main purpose of these badges is security of an organization and its employees. Some of the companies and organizations can make their badges more sophisticated in order to enhance the security. Normally sensitive government facilities, high security organization, military units and chemical laboratories need this type of security. They sometimes have special ID badges for every unit of the organization. These ID cards help in establishing different clearance levels and in this way it can be ensured that only specific people are allowed to enter the sensitive and restricted areas.

Information on staff ID badges
As we have discussed earlier that the information mentioned on the staff ID badges depend on the level of security of a unit or an organization. This information can consist of just text or pictures. Restricted and highly sensitive facilities use cards which are highly sophisticated and can have much more data and features.
Normally the ID staff badges include basic information such as name and rank of the person in the form text. Picture of the employee is also attached for identification and security purposes. Majority of companies add their company’s logo and different graphics to make the badge look more attractive. Another advantage is that it also helps in brand awareness. Some companies also mention the person blood group and emergency contact number on the back of the cards. These things can be used in case of any emergency.
In sensitive industries and organizations, detailed information such as ID card number and address are mentioned. These cards may even contain signatures and some other additional data and features. Some cards even have computer readable magnetic strips and chips. These magnetic strips and chips make security process quicker and much effective. These features also make these cards almost impossible to copy.

1D And 2D Barcode Comparison And Its Uses In ID Card

There are various types of encoded ID cards used in various industries for various purposes. The most widely used are barcode ID cards. They are easy to create since the information to be contained in a bar code can be encoded onto the ID card during the printing process.

The information contained on a barcode ID can be read by the use of a barcode reader whenever you want to verify the identity of the cardholder. It consists of a series of patterned bars and spaces of either numeric or alphanumeric data that are printed on the card. The data can either be printed or scanned onto the card.

A barcode ID card can contain all your personalized data, including your name, address, access authorization, biometric fingerprints, training status, expiry data, and depending on its level of sophistication, it can also have your portrait data. The ability to provide almost all your personal information has greatly contributed to the wide use of barcode ID cards. There are two major kinds of barcodes: one dimensional (1-D) and the two dimensional (2-D).

One-dimensional Barcodes
The one-dimensional linear barcode is made up of a single raw consisting of bars. Their use of a single row of data makes them hold less data compared to the 2-D barcodes. For this reason, 1-D barcodes are preferred for use in applications that require encoding of just a few characters. They are commonly used in a secure access control ID card systems where only a few characters string is used to uniquely identify the cardholder. It stores purely redundant data, thus preventing possibilities of data degeneration. One dimensional id barcodes are often printed along the length of the card.  The readers make use of either visible and or infrared sensors.

Two-dimensional Barcodes
This kind of barcodes has the capability to store more information as compared to 1-D barcodes. They are relatively sophisticated and more complex thus preferred for use in applications where top security is required. They appear in form of a matrix of square dots of different sizes and are read using raster-scanning beam sensors that are often contained in handheld barcode readers. The scanner can also be fixed at the entrance to a particular place which requires client identification and do not require swiping. They have the capability to store biometric data such as fingerprints, or your portrait. This is due to their ability to encode up to five hundred bytes in one square inch.

Each type of barcode has its unique application in various fields.Based on these distinguishing features, you can go for the one that befits your individual or organizational requirements.

How to choose an ID card software for your business

People nowadays tend to prefer in-house printing of ID cards for their company or businesses. The reason behind it is that the printing process has become much more affordable and user friendly. There is a common perception that the quality of the cards depend on the printer alone which is true to a certain extent but it is equally important to choose an ID card software that produces the best design for your cards according to your requirements.

There are many software available in the market. Choosing the best software for you has thus become a very difficult process. In this article will discuss some factors which should be kept in mind while choosing ID card software.

Choose a user-friendly software:
It is probably the most important factor which should be kept in mind. The software you choose should be easy to understand and use. It should not add unnecessary complications to the process of designing the cards.

Layout and graphics of the cards:
An important factor which should be kept in mind is that how do you want your cards to look like. You should know the things you want to add to your cards. There can be many layouts. Do you want to write on both sides? The graphics you want to add, there can be logos, pictures, background images, signatures etc. When you have made the decision on the layout of your card, it becomes easier for you to choose the software. Many software does not have enough features to enable you to design front and back of the card separately and to add required graphics. You should ensure that the software you choose has all the option you require in your card.

Purpose of the cards:
You should have a clear idea of what is the purpose of the cards you are designing. Are they basic ID cards? Are they used for security purposes? Are they part of some access control system? If they are being used for security purposes then you should ensure that your software includes signatures and images or thumb prints for verification. Your software should be able to add barcodes so they can be easily scanned and verified through machines.

Budget constraint:
The budget allocated for the software should be kept in mind when choosing the software. Mostly the software are available for free on the internet. High-Coercivity And Low-Coercivity Magnetic Stripe Card Comparison

Magnetic stripe cards are available in two types that basically differ in the durability of the card and the card’s resistance to magnetic data loss.

Your decisions about what type of card to use depends on the application you plan for the card, how long you expect the card to be used, and the amount of data that you plan to have encoded in the stripe on the card. Cost considerations also include how much decoration like logos, water marks, and pictures you want to place on the card. Other costs involved include the encoder for each type of card. Different materials for cards provide different lifetimes for the cards and longer lifetime cards cost more.

Magnetic stripe cards are available in two different types – high-coercivity and low-coercivity. Coercivity implies the relative safety of the data encoded on the card, the durability of the data, and the level of protection from magnetic erasure of the data.

High-coercivity magnetic stripe cards are more difficult to erase, last longer, can contain more data, are resistant to damage and data loss from most magnetic fields and magnets, and are designed for long term use. A few of the major uses of high-coercivity cards include gift cards, credit cards, employee identification cards, building access control cards, and employee attendance cards. High-coercivity magnetic stripe cards are encoded by a high energy magnetic field.

Low-coercivity magnetic stripe cards are designed for short term use. The cards can be damaged by magnetic fields and magnets, can carry less data, and are easier to erase. This type of magnetic stripe card was designed for short term use like hotel room keys, visitor identification tags that require short term data for access to secure areas, season ticket passes, and have become more common as a secure irreproducible sporting event ticket. Low-coercivity magnetic stripe cards are encoded by a low energy magnetic field.

Most of the encoding devices for high-coercively cards on the market today can encode low-coercivity cards as well. A low-coercivity card encoder can only encode low-coercivity cards. High-coercivity card encoding devices cost more than devices that only encode low-coercivity cards.

The price difference between the two types of cards is small ($25 in some cases) and reflects the cost of the added chemicals and energy that high-coercivity cards require.

Normally any added features for both types of cards like logos, watermarks, and photos cost the same.

Your decision about what type of magnetic stripe card to use should be based on the planned application and how long you want the card to last. The added security and protection from magnetic damage make high-coercivity cards more convenient for your business and customers in a long term repeated use application. If your application requires multiple changes of encoded information regularly or has a short lifetime a low-coercivity card may be a better financial choice.

After you unchecked the ‘Show close button’ option, users can only close the software with keyboard shortcut ‘Alt+F4′, this measurement prevents guest users close the software by clicking the close button using mouse or touch-screen. BUT it is unable to prevents guest users close the software by clicking the ‘Alt+F4′ or using task manager(Alt+Ctrl+Del) to close to software.
To solve this issue, For data query system that only require using ID number to search for data, we suggest the kiosk only equip mouse/touch-screen and barcode scanner. For data entry system or data query system require input characters, we suggest the kiosk should only equip industrial kiosk keyboard, which normally doesn’t have the control keys(alt, ctrl, del, F1-F12 etc) and mouse/touch-screen. And make sure the kiosk itself haven’t expose any USB port and PS/2 port to public.
Although the above measurements is very strong, but for kiosk with internet connection and running in a public environment we still suggest third-party kiosk software should be installed for greater security.

6. Select ‘User Roles Management’, create a administrator user for management purpose and a user for guest. the guest user should only have very limited rights. Here are two examples of how guest users should be configured:

For data query system that only allow guests to access records seeker and without the rights of editing, deleting and printing:
* Only following selections remain checked, others unchecked:
Preview Records
Execute Scripts
Records Seeker

For data entry system that only allow guests to access card issuing center and with the rights of adding records but without the rights of previewing , editing, deleting and printing:
* Only following selections remain checked, others unchecked:
